Beach day! All my kids love love love the beach! The water was really warm. Probably because the air was so hot. It was a perfect beach day! We went to 29th street so that we could hang with Jordan and Bri and Kika of course. We had to pay for parking (which was a first for Del Mar) because it was so crowded. But the beach itself wasn't crowded so that was nice. It was great just hanging out with the family.
Me and my little appendage enjoying the sand and waves. Link loves crawling through the water. It's cute to see how excited crawling around the waves makes him. My little water boy!
Annalise could stay in the water all day. She was in with Nick for a long time then I went in with her for a long time. She loves the water.
While Link took his nap I went surfing with Ammon. I hadn't been surfing in years and years. I forgot how much fun it is, even though I'm very rusty! I did get up a couple times standing and a few more times up on my knees.
The last time I went surfing I was also with Ammon. I was on top of this huge wave (at least an 8 footer) and I decided I didn't want to take it. I leaned back to get out of it and the top half of my board snapped off and rode the wave for me. It freaked me so much I didn't get back on a board in years. It felt good to face my fears and ride again. Surfing is a ton of fun :).
Then when everyone was ready to go home, Ammon and I went to La Jolla to go snorkeling. The water wasn't as clear as when Cam and I went but Ammon and I still had a splendid time. We used the brand new snorkels Nick got from Scheels (they work great!). The highlights of the adventure was seeing the seas and exploring a cave. I've always wanted to go in the caves at La Jolla and today we finally did. It was really cool but pretty dangerous. The sound inside the cave when a wave crashed was tumultuous. Huge round stones filled the mouth of the cave so when a wave would crash it sounded like a hundred symbols crashing together. That combined with the sound of the wave against the walls of the cave and the echo bouncing around made for a thunderous sound. A sound so unique I hope I never forget it. God's beautiful creations at work 😄. Getting into it wasn't too bad but getting out was crazy. The waves were ginormous and powerful as they crashed through the narrow opening of the cave. You had to time your escape perfectly. I made it out in one swift swoop but Ammon tired to do it in two parts which only got him stuck against the rocks. It was pretty frightening. He was calling for help but there was nothing I could do for him. Luckily his next try was more successful and he escaped with only a few scraps and bruises. We were able to continue on to see the seals. Ammon and I both agreed that going in was worth it but it probably wasn't our brightest idea. Still awesome fun :).
After snorkeling we meet the family at a delicious Indian food restaurant.
