We stayed inside most all of the day. The world of Texas is still frozen.

Lincoln's cough is getting much worse. He woke up every hour last night. Literally. The biggest block of sleep I got was from 7 to 8:45 am. Poor baby is so congested. I hope he doesn't have whopping cough. There was a kid at church that sounded like he had it bad. Sitting right behind us. I hope he doesn't.

Fri Feb 26, 2015
Poor little Lincoln isn't feeling well. He's had a cough last night he woke up with a fever. I couldn't find the infant Motrin so I just gave him a small dose of the children's. It seemed to do the trick. Poor sweetie woke up at 1 o'clock and again at 4 o'clock. But then he slept in until 7:30am so definitely not the worst considering he wasn't feeling well. The rest of the days been kind of crazy. It's been snowing and snowing and snowing. It snowed so much that they released Ella out of school at 11 AM.
I decided to take Joan to the train station early to try and avoid some of the crazy traffic. But that didn't work. It took two and a half hours just to get there and another hour to get home. Poor Lincoln. He did great on the way there slept the whole time. But on the way back he screamed the whole time. He doesn't give up easily. If he doesn't like something he'll let us know. He's kind of stubborn like that.
We came home to our yard looking like this. It makes me feel like we're already in UT!
Nicks flight made it in luckily and he made it home alive after getting stuck in traffic as well.
The girls played out in the freezing for a little while but that didn't last long. It's too cold! Lisey's poor little cheeks were as red as cherry cough syrup. We're going to have a pizza and movie night. Crazy nick is out picking up the pizza now. He really really loves pizza haha!

Thurs Feb 26, 2015
It feels like a dud morning. Lisey and I tried to go to story time, we even got ready really fast and hurried to the library, and then the librarian that does storytime was sick. No storytime. So we went to Walmart. My brain felt broken. They forgot to take off the no stealing thing on big hero 6, so I had to take it back and get that removed. Plus I wanted to get some things to make a low-fat chicken pot pie. I must've ran from one end of the store to the other six or seven times. I just kept forgetting things on either side. Then as I was checking out I forgot to pay for the ice scraper so I had to go all the way back in and pay for it. Like I said broken brain.
We did get some cookies for Lisey as her potty treat. In fact she's sitting on the toilet right now and I'm sitting next to her hoping that she'll go potty soon. At least she's trying, which is a lot better than what we had been doing previously.... Namely running away anytime I mentioned the potty. I guess we'll see what happens. She has the iPad so at least she's not trying to escape. Gotta love potty training.
Lisey loves loves loves her brother! She wants to hold him all the time. She very much treats him like a doll...which has both its pros and cons...
Well the potty time went ok...after an hour of sitting on the potty Lisey went pee. I was so proud and I think she was proud too. She got her potty cookie and lots of claps. Then I gave her tons to drink and let her watch Diego while I fed Lincoln. That was a mistake. She had an accident (I foolishly had put panties on her). It was totally my fault, too much water and too much time. After the accident, I put a pull up on her. Then after we picked up Ella from school she went again in the potty! Way to go lisey!
No pee in the diaper yet. I think I'm going to just have to train myself to remember to put her on the potty every 30 mins to an hour or so.
Lisey is at home with joan and I'm at gymnastics with Ella. Lincoln is napping at home too. I'm all by myself. It feels weird but nice. I wish I could take a nap or paint or do something useful. I'm usually holding a baby so when I'm not I feel like I need to get something done. It is nice to watch Ella's gymnastics without chasing anyone though.
Ella is such a goof. She's dancing around and making silly silly facing while she is waiting her turn to do her gymnastics trick. All the other girls are just waiting boringly. That is one thing Ella is not. Boring. She is so much like Nick. Very funny and very silly. Full of life, fun and laughter. She is just like her daddy. In fact lisey is a goof too. Yes... There is never a dull moment with Ella, nick and lisey around. My life is full of fun and craziness!

Wed Feb 25, 2015
Lisey pronounces 'popcorn' as 'poop corn'. So cute and funny. "I looked out the window and what did I see poop corn popping on the apricot tree. Spring has brought me such a nice surprise, poop corn popping right before my eyes." Haha.
Ella's school got delayed by two hours so it started at 9:45 this morning. It's still cold outside and snowy but the roads aren't frozen.
Lincoln slept terrible last night. He had a hard time staying in his bed. I tried first at 9 o'clock and then 10 o'clock and then 11 o'clock and then finally by 11:30pm he stayed in his bed. Then he got up at 4 AM and 5 AM and 6 AM. But then fortunately he slept till 9 AM. If only I had slept into 9 am. His sleep must just all be off. I wondered last night if you might have an ear infection. I even gave him some numbing drops in his ears. I looked up online about putting breast milk in the ear to heal ear infections. I think maybe I'll try that today. He seems a lot better though so hopefully he doesn't have an ear infection. Or if he does it will go away on his own. I didn't realize it but that's what it said online, that ear infections often go away on their own. I guess we'll play it by ear... Pun intended. 😉
Lincoln rolled over! Twice! From his tummy to his back. Exciting and historic day!
Ella had tutoring today after school. Then we went to Walmart. I made beef stew in the crock pot for dinner. And lisey and I made caramel that had to be individually wrapped (that's why we had to go to Walmart again...wax paper). It turned out really yummy! The day flew by. Probably bc we got such a late start to the day.

Tues Feb 24, 2015
Another day of no school! Nick made it off to the airport this morning even though I have no idea how he did it. The roads are still very very icy. It took him an hour but he made it. I know heavenly father blessed him to make it safely because it was a miracle.
The cold weather doesn't stop these girls from having fun. Good thing I have them... I would NOT be tromping around in the frozen world without them. But I would be missing out on sledding down driveways and wet wet bums. I love my kids! :)
Yes the girls and I went outside again this morning, this time in the front yard. We slid down steep driveways and along the sidewalk on an old deflated pool toy and a piece of cardboard. When we came in we were cold and wet. The girls had a nice warm tubby.
Then I put my running clothes on and turned up the dancing tunes and danced around the house for 45 minutes. The only rule was you had to keep moving. Lincoln thought it was hilarious. He laughed and laughed at his sisters dancing. It was so cute to hear his giggles and holding him helped me work out my arms. The girls made it for the first half hour... then I wore them out. I was tired but I kept dancing and shaking for the full 45 minutes. I got a good workout. I guess I figured I wasn't going to let a little bad weather ruin good health and exercise (like it did yesterday).
Time for a shower! Exercise really does make the world a better place...at least in my world!! 😄😄😄😄😄😄
Lisey was crying about not being able to watch another movie and Ella looks at me and says "girls". Haha. I hate to break it to you Ella but you are also a member of the girls club. Haha.
Hey lisey.... SMILE! Her reply...yeah right mom!
The roads cleared up enough to go to the grocery store for some milk. Then we went over to Stephanie's to play for an hour. Read the kids stories and got them to bed by 8. Lincoln was out by 9. Nice early night. I wish nick was home to enjoy it with me. I've been listening to Anne of Green Gables. It's such a good book. I can't believe I've gone my whole life loving the movie and never reading the books. They are wonderful!

Mon Feb 23 , 2015
No school today! And Nick's flight was rescheduled for tomo. Kind of a weird feeling day. The girls had a super great time playing together. Nick and I paid the bills and worked on our taxes. The time went by pretty fast. Just weird to be inside all day.
Well I guess we were inside almost all day. The girls got out for a bit to play on the ice. It was freezing though so we didn't last or there long. After playing outside we drank some chocolatey hot chocolate.
Lincoln is getting so big! He can almost sit up on his own. Almost...he likes to lean all the way forward so he looks like a yoga master praying.

Sun Feb 22, 2015
We had stake conference this morning. Very good , but also very hard for the kids to sit through. Two hours is hard for anyone to sit for but it's especially hard to sit in the morning before they had a chance to run off any energy.
Now the girls are having the best time playing together. They are both dressed in all black and Ella says they are pretending to be tricksters. Oh now is ninja day haha. Those cute girls. I'm so glad they have each other and that they are such good friends.
I made cinnamon rolls again today. I need to stop making them bc I like them way to much. They are just way too delicious. They are also making me fat...
Nick is supposed to go out of town tomorrow but the weather is terrible. Ella's school even got cancelled. We just don't know for sure yet if Nicks flight got cancelled. Poor nick keeps trying to call but the airlines automated system just says there are too many callers because of bad weather and to call back later. How lame is that. Hopefully it will get cancelled and nick can play with us on Monday and go on Tues instead.
Sat Feb 21, 2015
Nick was home all day with us. Ella had a basketball game at noon. In the morning lisey and Ella helped me make cinnamon rolls. They turned out so good! Probably the best ones I've ever made. I love bread machines! They make cinnamon rolls so much easier to make!
Ella did more prancing around the basketball court. I don't think she enjoys basketball very much. I think she'd like dance or swim team better, but we'll try basketball again in a few years. You never know.
After the game we went to Costco and had samples and pizza. Then we spent the rest of the day playing. We jumped on the trampoline and played Mario kart and danced around the house. It was a great day just being with the family 😊 .

Fri Feb 20, 2015
Lisey woke up this morning with her imagination a buzz. Nick went into her room at 9:15 and said she was pretending to shoot ice from her hands. When she came out to see me she told me about the mean witch and the spooky monsters (when she says spooky she wiggles her fingers and krinkles her nose to make it feel more scary ☺️) . Then in the shower lisey pretended to get a broken leg and I pretended to be the doc with a magic wand that could fix broken bones with the swish of my wand and a magic (gibberish) phrase. I love seeing Lisey's imagination come to life. Three is turning into a fabulous age.
I got a run in. It's a gloomy day but at least it's not cold. I finally felt like I had some of my energy back on my run and I didn't feel like such a slug.
We went to Ayden Roths birthday party at the park. Fun but windy windy windy. Good times.

Thurs Feb 19, 2015
Proud moment: Ella was asking when her friends birthday parties were. It's Jayden's birthday today and aiden's birthday today also. I told her Aiden was celebrating her birthday on Friday. And that Jayden was celebrating her birthday on Sunday. Without skipping a beat, Ella says "I can't go to Jayden's birthday party. We don't go to birthday parties on Sunday or have play dates. We stay with our family on Sunday." Jaw drop.
I was nervous about telling her about Jayden's birthday because jayden is her best friend and I thought she may put up a little fight against not going. But no. Ella knows right from wrong and she is very obedient. Way to go Ella! I'm so proud of you and I know Heavenly Father is too.
Lincoln slept ok. He got up at 11 and nick rocked him back to sleep then he got up again at 12:30 and then again at 2:30 and I fed him both times. Then he got up one more time but I just rocked his bed and miraculously he quickly fell back to sleep. Thank you Heavenly Father! He got up for the morning about 7. Not the best night...but not the worst night either.
Lisey has been extra sweet today. Her imagination has really come alive. She loves to tell me about all the adventures she's on in her imagination. She seems to have a bought of extra imaginativness after watching Diego. So cute. I love that she loves books too. She is getting to be such a kid!
Speaking of Lisey's imagination...Ella and lisey were playing and Ella did something that minorly hurt Lisey's feelings. Lisey came up to me and said "she hit me!" of course Ella said she didn't and I knew she didn't because I saw the whole thing. Then later when Lisey and I were playing on the bunk bed Lisey says to me "stop hitting me". I wasn't even touching her. Oh Lisey! I hope you get over that phase quick. And until then, no one calls child services on me!
Went to gymnastics after school then Ella and lisey played with play dough and the new valentine's cookie cutters I got for 75% off.
Silly lisey loving on her brother. Or tourchoring him...I'm not sure which. They both seem happy so I let it continue.

Wed Feb 18, 2015
Lincoln slept a ton better! He woke up at 12:30am but then slept in till 7am. Maybe that rice cereal did help out! I hope it's the beginnings of a new and glorious tradition...sleeping through the night!
I finally got the suitcases unpacked. I guess the vacation is officially over now and all evidence of its existence gone. Back to everyday life. Which is good too :) lisey and I had a lovely tea party this afternoon. Then we went to Costco. I love Costco but I sure do end up spending a lot of money each time I go there. Even if I think I'm not getting very much. Hopefully all the food lasts a long time. All the ladies at Costco were fawning over Lincoln and annalise's cuteness and lisey's good manners. Lisey is a very polite little girl. When ever she got a sample she'd say "thank you so much" in her cute tiny voice. Lisey is so sweet 😊 .
Ella's teacher said she's doing better and better on her reading. Ella's been having tutoring the last bunch of Wednesdays. I think they are really helping. Ella is so smart she just hasn't taken off in her reading yet. But she's on her way. I'm grateful for her teacher (Mrs Maddox) who's helping her get there.
Lincoln is growing way to fast! The week before the cruise I went through all his clothes and put out the 6 month stuff now I have to go through his clothes again to put in the ones that don't fit and pull out the 9 month clothes. Holy smokes! Link your only 4 months old and you're huge!
Link didn't seem to like the rice cereal as much tonight. Maybe I'll try some fruit next.
The girls had a tubby tonight. After the tub they were wrestling on the bed and Ella says "you better be careful lisey or I'll give you the hee ha! And you don't want me to give you the hee ha." Oh Ella you are so funny!
I took this picture on Monday. I thought it was worth adding in today. I've been thinking a lot about moving. I sure am going to miss that huge Texas sky. The sky really is bigger in Texas.

Tues Feb 17, 2015
Lincoln is back to sleeping terrible. I felt like a walking zombie all day. I went for a run later in the day then usual (around 11am) but I still only ate a banana and a orange. I had zero energy on the run. Probably a combo between no sleep and no food that made me feel like I had to drag my feet every inch of the way.
We went to the library and then Stephanie's after school. We played at the park for about two minutes then a freezing rain started to fall so we went to Stephanie's instead.
I fed Link rice cereal for the first time. He seems to like it. Hopefully he won't get constipated from it like Ella used to when she was a baby. I made it nice and thin. He ate quite a bit so hopefully he'll sleep better tonight.
We got Lincoln some nine months jammies at Costco yesterday and they fit perfectly. He is one big boy! Doesn't he look adorable!

Mon Feb 16, 2015
No school today! We went to hobby lobby and krogers this morning, but other than that we've just played inside. It's a cold and dreary day but we've had fun just playing and being together. We got some toys down from the attic for Lincoln. He loves toys!

Ella rocking out 😄
True boys love pink...especially true boys with sisters.
In not sure who's having more fun. Lincoln or....
....Ella
Ella built a huge mega block tower. She was so proud. That smile on her face is 100% genuine.
I'm so glad when daddy comes home. Glad as I can be. Lisey has a genuine smile on too.
For fhe went to Costco. On the way we sang songs and Ella gave a lesson on the golden rule. Then we played a game where you thought of a person in the scriptures and everyone else had to guess who it was by asking questions (kind of like 20 questions). It was great to be together and playing together 😀 .

Sunday Feb 15, 2015
We had to leave my parents house at 5:20 am this morning to go to the airport.
The second flight link was a little crankie. But who could blame the poor guy. I was feeling cranky too by the end of our 10 hours of travel. But we made it. The girls came into the airport to get us and nick whipped out the presents. It was so nice having the family back together again. I read the girls stories. It feels good to be home 😊 .
Sat Feb 14, 2015
We got off the ship today. I woke up at sunrise to pump milk. And I looked out the balcony to a glorious sunrise.
It was a gorgeous sight!
We ate breakfast on the ship and waited in a long line. We were back on solid ground by 10am. My dad picked us up and took us back to San Diego. We had lunch at China Fun and watched a movie together. I wasn't feeling great so I turned in early. Flight leaves at 7am tomorrow...ýuck.

Thurs Feb 12 , 2015
Today was another full day out to sea. It only took me 5 days, but I finally slept in this morning. Then I went to the gym while nick had a meeting. After the gym I went back to the room but I realized that I had forgotten my room key. Nick was still in his meeting somewhere on the ship, so I got some breakfast and went up to the dish one dodge ball tournament. They got together a girls game that I played in. It was best two out of three. We lost the first. Won the second (thanks to my two amazing catches at the end) then lost the third. Fun though. Third grade flash back.
After that I went to guest services and got another key card. I took a shower then sat on our balcony and enjoyed the fresh sea air and lovely ocean front view. I saw some dolphins jump and a few whale tails and water spouts.
My amazing view from the porch 😊
Around 3:30 nick finally got back. He was feeling frustrated because two of this best managers got an amazing offer from Vivent (the alarm company). $50,000 signing bonus. Craziness. It's hard bc I can totally see why they are tempted. Thats a ton of money. But it would be really really bad for nick. Super bad. Thats what makes this business really scary. Every thing could collapse on you at any moment and you could be left with nothing. Definitely a high risk, high stress industry. I don't like seeing Nick so stressed :(. Hopefully the boys will stay the year at least. Nick has put so much time and energy into keeping them.
The rest of the afternoon we rested and I played some cards with the girls. It was fancy night at dinner so I wore my pink twirly dress again. After dinner I went to see a really cool musical and dancing show with a bunch of Beatles music. It was like a blast back to my childhood. I grew up listening to oldies and the Beatles was one of my favorites. Poor nick had another meeting so I went with Chris and Mel Cook.
After the show we played Mafia. I was Mafia a few times, but they got me pretty quick both times. The first time I was out the first round the second time I made it to round 3 and then got killed. I guess I'm just so obvious. I'm not good at deceiving people, which I suppose in the long run of life is great...just not for Mafia. The second time I was Mafia, nick was it with me. He ended up winning, which is very tough to do. I guess all his salesman skills have paid off.
Wed Feb 11, 2015
Another awesome port day in Puerto Vallerta. We took a taxi down to the boardwalk for a little shopping and then another taxi to a secluded beach.
Along the boardwalk there were a lot of artists who carved up the sand into different designs and shapes. On the way back to the ship we even saw a guy that looked like he was made of sand, sitting at a sand table playing sand chess. Nick and I both thought he was really sand...and then he moved.
The boardwalk went right along the beach and we got a great view of the clear blue water and tropical atmosphere. There was also these weird chairs that had little bums on them. Of course we acted like total tourists and took pictures by everything.
We got souvenirs for the kids and joan and my family. We spent way too much money, but at least we got some pretty cool stuff that I think everyone will like.
The beach was fabulous. Sunshine and warm water. What else could you ask for? (Ok besides having our kids with us.) The beach was quite and private enough that there weren't any vendors trying to sell us stuff (probably because it was a hotel's beach). Nick, Brennan, Grant and I were in the nice warm water for a long time. The waves were ginormous, but as long as you were paying attention, they were pretty easy to manover around so you could avoid getting pummeled. It was pretty fun though, getting almost pummeled and tugged and pulled around in the water. At one point a fish jumped out of the water right next to me and I screamed super loud. We all had a good laugh about that.
There were a bunch of iguanas under that sidewalk. He let us get really close and then just looked at us like who are these crazy people. I guess we do look pretty crazy....
This trip has reminded me over and over why I don't drink. People act so stupid when they're under the influence. We found out tonight at dinner that one of Nick's boys had to get 7 stitches in his head. He was drunk and decided to go out to the beach at night. A huge wave crashed and he came out of the water with a bloody head. I guess he cut an artery. His buddy tried to put pressure on the wound but it kept soaking shirts. $400 later he had 7 stitches. Doesn't drinking sound so fun? Yeah right!
Fri Feb 13, 2015
It's our last day on the ship. I started it off by going to the gym and working 4 miles on the eliptical and doing weights and crunches. Poor Nick had meetings all day starting at 9am. I met some of the wives for brunch then I spent the rest of the day hanging out with Mel. We layed out in the sun and had some yummy chocolate fondue.
At 2:30 we went to the draft for the company. It was actually pretty fun. They played a game in between area picks and Nick's region won. We each got $25 from the swag store.
We got these cool jerseys with our names on them. It was supposed to be just for the regionals and managers but they accidentally made nick two, so I got a Stephenson jersey too.
After the draft Mel and I layed in the sun again and went in the jacuzzi and into the steam room. I had no idea a sweat could make to you feel so good. My skin felt so soft. Then we had dinner and I turned in early. Poor nick has had more meetings. My wonderful time with my hubby is over.
Letter from Joan about Ella and lisey...
Hi!
We continue to do well here. Ella said she had a lot of fun at the Valentine party at school this afternoon. Lisey continues to be my helper when it comes to laundry or shopping, carrying packages. This afternoon, Sydney came over of 1 1/2 hrs. The girls make Valentines cards and played with dolls. I had gotten some Pillsbury cookie dough and made some cookies. After dinner, we watched The Lego Movie. I hadn't seen that one before. After, we read some books. Both girls were sound asleep by 8:45 PM. Now we will see what time they wake up in the morning. Yes, I remember Ella has a game at 1 PM tomorrow. We will also see if we can get together with Katherine and her kids to play at the park. Talk to you tomorrow!
Love, Mom

Tues Feb 10, 2015
Today we went to Puerto Vallerta and went zip lining through the jungle. Oh my goodness, so so fun! We traveled to the place on a large open bus up up up the mountain. The ride was about an hour but it it felt quick bc of all the cool stuff to look at.
The jungle was so green.
Seeing all the run down houses made me realize how good we have it in America. No one is truly poor in America. People with less money yes, poor no. I just thought the truck with the two added seats in the back was funny. Vechile safety laws are very different in Mexico...or perhaps non existent. I saw one truck that was raddling so badly I was pretty sure it was going to fall apart before it reached the end of the street.
We finally made it up the mountain to canopy zip lining place!
There were 14 different zip lines you got to go on. The longest one was a quarter mile long. We got to fly over a caynon with a river and gorgeous jungle below. On one of the zip lines nick and I went upside down. I kept thinking how fun it would be to take our kids when they get older. Cam would have died of joy to go on there. In fact I think he would have wanted to stay on and work there.
The employees were very comical. As they gave us the safety briefing they kept joking about there incompetent (acting drunk, or saying the other workers got fired and they used to work cleaning the toilets before the bosses pulled them in yesterday to work on the zip lines). At one point they even made a huge crashing sound and through down a helmet and a pant leg and shoe. You couldn't help but nervously laugh and hope they were actually experienced.
That's my friend Mel Cook. Thats the river we were flying over.
Nick and I pretending to zip line on the painting of zip lining.
We had some chicken quesadillas at a restaurant near the zip lining. Good food. The salsa was authenticly burn your tongue off spicy.
They had the cutest little marmoset near the restaurant. They gave us a cup of mango necture to feed him. We stuck our fingers in the necture and he would grab our fingers with his tiny insy little hands and lick the mango off our fingers. I almost passed out from its cuteness. Marmosets are the cutest animal on the planet!
Letter from Joan about the girls...
Hey there! Hope you are having a great time. Things continue to go well here. We played at the park yesterday, but the girls did not want to go out and play today. They wanted the iPad. They haven't been playing with it, so I let them. We are sticking to eating healthy foods and they have been eating well. Ella as been staying at the table, eating all her food! Lisey's sleep schedule seems to have at least temporarily taken a shift, at least now that she is feeling better. She will be in bed, but isn't going to sleep until 9 or later. She is also waking up by 6:45 AM. She hasn't taken a nap at all. She is just all energy. Ella has been very good about going to bed and getting up. School is going well. I'm going to finish up a few things and head to bed. Love you both!
