Thurs Nov 12th

I received this sweet text from my dear friend Annie Wilde Barron, a great friend from college...

Happiest Birthday Brooke! I saw an ad today for "fantastical popcorn" and it made me think of you and your exuberant zest for life! And then it made me miss you. And then it made me think how funny it is that last time I saw you we weren't yet parents. Yikes!! I hope you and your three beautiful children and sweet husband had a blast celebrating your special day!

It was just so nice I wanted to remember it in years to come. I miss you too Annie!!

The day didn't start out too well but it ended wonderfully. Nick had extended his trip so that he could visit with Jordan Bree and Harper. So he wasn't home this birthday morning and I needed to get up and get the kids ready as normal. But for some reason I expected great things out of my children on this birthday morning. This was unrealistic. Ella was a terror or at least I thought so at the time. I later contemplated that my feelings of frustration at her being a little less than cooperative, were due to the fact that I expected my kids (Ella in particular) to be wishing me a happy birthday by being very good. They are kids and that was a very unrealistic expectation... and unrealistic expectations cause unhappiness. Anyway, before Ella left for school I apologized for being grumpy and she apologized to me and we had a hug and a prayer and I wished her happy day at school and she wished me a happy birthday.

Lisey, Link and I went and got Nick from the airport. Then we had to rush over to swim lessons. It was Lisey's final one and I didn't want her to miss it. I'm not sure how much she learned in swim lessons, but she did have a good time.

Sian and Steve offered to watch the kids so we could go to Tucano's and Provo Beach kid free. So after we dropped off Lisey at school we left for Provo. We met Ammon at Tucano's and enjoyed a meat filled lunch then went to go play. I felt young again playing arcade games, like skeet ball and air hockey. Then we bowled and played laser tag. Then as our final hoor-ah we went into the wave pool. Holy smokes that was one of the funnest things I've done in a long long time. I fell about 15 hundred times, but it was very worth it. It ended up being a great great birthday. 29 here I come.
